Back Problems

Over 80% of Americans are affected by back pain. It is said that within a lifetime almost every human will experience back pain at some point. Back pain resonates in many forms in many areas. Some of us may experience lower or middle back pain while others see upper back as the problem area. Many other causes of back pain include muscular and nerve problems, arthritis and degenerative disc disease. Perhaps your back pain is a result of poor posture, injury, pregnancy, poor sleep or weakened muscles. Whatever the causes, sufferers of back pain know all too well the importance of relief.

Symptoms of back pain include but are not limited to

• Shooting or stabbing pain

• Inability to stand

• Muscle ache

• Limited range of motion

The great news is that surgery is rarely needed to treat back pain as simple home remedies and proper body mechanics should do the trick.

Here are a few suggestions:

Rest: First and foremost, the way to a speedy recovery is through a little rest and relaxation. Back pain is the perfect reason to take a load off and kick your feet up. Not only are you catching up on some much needed down time but you are also aiding in your bodies recover. After you’ve rested up a little and relieved a little tension the step would be to apply compresses.

Hot and Cold Compresses: It is suggested that you start with a cold compress or a bag of ice wrapped in a towel and you apply the compress to the affected area. Leave the cold compress on the affected area for 15-20 minutes to reduce swelling which can cause pressure to areas of the back. Immediately after removing the cold compress apply a hot compress to the same area. Heat aids in soothing and relaxing muscles and can increase blood flow to the area. For maximum relief you may want to consider trying the infrared heating pad available through the Healthy Back Institute. This heating pad is made with a technology that allows heat to penetrate deep into injured muscles offering long lasting pain relief.

Ointment: Many of us look to ointments to do the trick. Rub On Relief is a natural pain reliever that delivers instant relief from chronic pain. This formula penetrates into muscle tissue and repairs damage to your body’s cells. It is proven to be 100% effective.

Massage: Now this certainly sounds like a good idea. A great massage just may do the trick at relaxing the muscles and relieving tension. Many chronic back pain sufferers rely on massages for instant relief.

Acupuncture: Acupuncture has become very popular with back pain sufferers. It is thought to balance the flow of energy, otherwise known as your “chi.” This method can be useful for those looking to reduce pain and improve daily function.

Keep in mind though rare, there may be those extreme cases where medical attention should be considered. If you have any questions regarding the holistic approach to addressing back pain or if you would like any more information, please feel free to visit losethebackpain.com
