Neck Exercises For Neck Pain

Neck exercises for neck pain can be very helpful when it comes to relieving pain. Although you may want to rest your neck if you’re feeling intense pain, this can be counterproductive. Stagnation of the area can cause stiffness and additional pain instead of the intended healing.

Exercises can not only help soothe tense muscles and keep pain at bay, but they can help prevent future injuries to the area. This is particularly true when they are used in tandem with other methods.

The first exercise you can try is a simple head roll. Point your chin down towards your chest and roll your head all the way around in a clockwise direction. Take care not to go to fast so that you can be sure and stretch all the involved muscles adequately. Then stop and rotate your head in the opposite direction.

You can also try a variation of this exercise. Put your chin as close to your chest as you can get it, and roll your head from side to side. Then tilt your head back and do the same.

Another exercise to try is to try to get your ear as close to your shoulder as possible without feeling pain. Tilt your head to the left and use your hand to bring your head the rest of the way. Hold this position for a few seconds. Repeat this position on the right side.

Additionally, shoulder exercises and stretches can also help to relieve neck pain, as tension in the shoulders often leads to neck pain. First, you can simply try rolling your shoulders front to back and back to front for 10 revolutions in each direction.

Then, try bringing your right arm across the front of your body. Hold it in place with your left hand on your elbow, bringing your arm as close to your body as possible. Repeat this position with the left shoulder.

Generally speaking, low impact exercises are always helpful when it comes to pain relief. It helps to get your blood pumping, which promotes healing in your body.
