How to Alleviate Back Pain

If you are reading this article, it is likely that you are someone you know is experiencing back pain. We understand what it is like, and we will NOT waste your time. By the time you are through reading this short article, you will know how to alleviate back pain without having to take harsh drugs or have invasive surgeries.

First, let’s dispel some of the common myths about back pain. Most back pain is not caused by improper lifting. Usually, the wear and tear to the discs of the spine has been going on for years and the lifting motion was just “the straw that broke the camels back.” No pun intended.

The second common myth about back pain is that you should stay in bed. It drives us crazy when we hear our customers tell us that their doctors’ told them to stay in bed for weeks at a time. In fact, this could be one of the worst things you could do. Confused? Don’t be. It will all make sense. Some bed rest is a good idea, preferably right after a bad flare up. The impact of too much standing or walking can make the pain worse. However, too much bed rest can make the muscles in your body weaker than they already are and inactivity may be preventing you from starting a solid treatment plan.

Use the common sense principle. If your body is screaming in pain, you may want to rest for 24-48 hrs. If the pain fades a little you are probably ok to get back on your feet, at least for a few minutes per day.
