Is One Muscle Responsible for Your Back Pain? Try the Test to Find Out

Can one muscle be responsible for your back pain, your sciatica, herniated disc, spinal stenosis, spondylolisthesis?

Could it be responsible for you being unstable or unable to go in and out of bed, in and out of the bathroom, in and out of the car, walking, walking faster, walking up and down steps?

Could one muscle be responsible for all of that?

The answer is yes. And if you don’t believe me, I’m going to show you.

Watch this video and take the simple test I demonstrate. Then try the simple at-home exercises to get on the path to living pain free.

If the test was harder to do, it means those muscles aren’t used enough. They become weaker, but worse than weaker, they also become imbalanced.

Imbalances in your system is far worse than just being weak, because imbalances gives you a false sense of security.

Your pain is caused by a condition. That condition is caused by what is called a postural dysfunction.

That postural dysfunction is caused by a muscle imbalance. Those muscle imbalances are caused by what are called what I call your habits, patterns, postures, and positioning. Your body accommodates to the things you do all day long. So if you sit all day long, you develop certain types of muscle imbalances.

Muscle imbalances can occur between the front and the back, side to side, or a combination of all of them.

For example, the most common muscle imbalance in the body is around the hip. You can have dominantly strong quadriceps compared to weaker hamstrings, dominantly strong and tight hip flexors compared to your glutes.

What do you recommend for someone like me, whose knees are so damaged from falling on them and knee replacement surgery that the nerve endings are so excruciatingly painful that I cannot kneel. I cannot get down on the ground. If I fall, I need someone to help me up because the pain is so excruciating to get on my knees in order to get up. Therefore, I cannot do any floor exercises. Any suggestions on any floor exercises alternatives? Would a bed work for these types of exercises?

    1. Steve says:

Lawrence, a brace can help but should not be looked at as the final solution, we prefer doing stretches and exercises to get and keep one’s body balanced and stable to tolerate the stress of one’s day, including in and with sports.
