Pillows For Back Pain

Pillows for back pain can be a successful addition to your treatment program for back or sciatic pain. They are used to help alleviate back pain and to promote a more restful night of sleep. There are many types of pillows for back pain and even back pain cushions that can be used during the day while at work, home or while driving in the car.

There are a wide range of pillows for back pain available and choosing the correct one for you will be determined by the condition you are dealing with. Just as treatment programs vary from individual to individual, not all pillows work well for everyone. After one week of use, one should be able to tell if a pillow is providing relief. There are many various pillows for back pain available such as back support pillows, seat pillows, neck pillows, body pillows and knee pillows.

Back support pillows

We all spend a lot of time sitting so it becomes very easy to undo all of the hard work of correcting our back pain issues with poor posture while sitting. The Freedom Back is an excellent pillow for back pain as it offers support without putting pressure on the spinal column. It allows you to sit comfortably and adds the needed support in order to help you sit with correct posture. And the best thing of all is that you take it with you wherever you go!

Seat Pillows

Back pain seat pillows, or seat cushions as they are commonly called, can offer relief to people who suffer from back pain and sciatica and helps one sit without pain or discomfort. The back pain seat cushion offers relief by positioning the hips for better alignment and posture, reduces pressure points on the pelvic bone and minimizes contact between the sensitive tailbone and chair which reduces stress and pressure that can build up over time. Just like the Freedom back, the back pain seat cushion is portable so you can use it at work, at home or even while driving your car!

Neck Pillows

Neck pillows or cervical pillows are a great way to support the head and neck while sleeping or traveling by offering support to the head and neck which can alleviate discomfort and pain. They help keep the neck in proper alignment which in turn keeps pressure off of the nerves. Since we on average spend one third of our life sleeping, a special neck pillow may offer some relief. As with all pillows, choose one that is specific to your needs and provides comfort for you.

Body Pillows

Body pillows are ideal for people who sleep on their sides. They offer body support and help keep your spine in alignment while sleeping. Many pregnant women find that body pillows offers much needed abdominal support.

Knee Pillows

Studies show that 85% of the American Population sleep on their sides. Knee pillows help align your knees and hips which in turn alleviates strain on the lower back. While sleeping on your side, a knee pillow prevents the knees from touching, which helps keep the spine in a neutral position. What happens when you sleep on your side without a knee pillow is that the natural curve of the spine gets pulled, since the weight of the upper leg is pulling downward. Any firm pillow placed between the legs should offer the support needed.

As you can see, there are many pillows for back pain available to you. Adding one to your treatment plan may be the extra little step to your road to recovery.
