It may be very difficult to find anything that is more debilitating than extreme lower back pain. Unless you have experienced this before, it is not something that can be easily explained. Extreme back pain of any sort can leave you stuck in bed, praying for some relief.
Of course, everybody is different and your level of “extreme” may be different than the next persons. Having said that, if you are in severe pain and the pain persists, it is a sign that something is definitely wrong. If 24-48 hrs of bed rest does not help, it is probably a good idea to be seen by a specialist. Sometimes, the pain will go away with time. That does not mean that the problem is gone, it just means the pain has subsided temporarily. If the pain continues, there are a few things you can do besides just staying off of your feet.
You can rotate using ice and heat on the inflamed area to try to reduce the pain enough for you to get back on your feet. Once you are able to get up and about, you can make an appointment to get some tests done. Proper diagnostic tests can show if there is any major damage to your discs and or spine. Keep in mind that if you are diagnosed with bulging discs, herniated discs, sciatica or any other condition, there are ways that you can manage and often eliminate your pain without drugs or surgical procedures.
Understanding Extreme Lower Back Pain
The best thing you can do (while you are bed ridden) is to educate yourself and learn as much as you can about back pain, what causes it, and how to treat it. This way, you can be armed with a solid understanding so that you can question your doctor and make sure that they have your best interest in mind. Doctors are extremely important; I mean where would
we be without them? However, they are not all necessarily back pain experts. You can seek their opinion, but make sure YOU are in charge of your treatment plan.
It’s possible for you to experience extreme pains and not have any structural damage to your discs. There are nerves in your body that when pressured, can send pain signals throughout the body. Many of our customers report that even simple stretches have eliminated horrible back pain.
One of the first things you should do is asses your current physical condition. If you do not stretch regularly, sit in a chair for hours at a time, or carry extra weight, it is likely that you have developed muscle imbalances in your body. These imbalances can lead to sudden pain and also chronic pains. When you are able to get a little active again, you will want to learn more about muscle balance therapy. In a nutshell, muscle balance therapy involves identifying the muscle imbalances in your body and correcting them with targeted stretches and exercises.
Extreme Low Back Pain Relief
If there is one thing that I want to emphasize, it’s that you have to stay focused. Yes, the pain is absolutely horrible… but there is hope. There are literally dozens of treatment options out there that you can try. For some people it is a combination of treatment options that renders the most effective and lasting relief.
Our main recommendation is that you read our new book, The 7 Day Back Pain Cure. In it you will learn all about the in depth causes of back pain and the treatments mentioned above, plus a lot more.
