This week on CNN Health, sleep doctor Lisa Shives, M.D. reported the results of a new study published in the April issue of Sleep Medicine Reviews.
According to the study, which reviewed 20 comprehensive studies of eight different complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) treatments for sleep disorders, several therapies hold promise for the sleep deprived. Among the most effective alternative medicine treatments were acupressure, tai chi, and yoga.
Since as many as 15% of Americans suffer from chronic insomnia, and even a minor sleep deficiency can lead to systemic inflammation and cardiovascular problems, it would be worth your while to investigate how acupressure, tai chi, or yoga can be a safe alternative to help you if you’re having trouble getting a restful eight hours of sleep each night.
Remember, sleeping pills can be dangerous, so if you choose to use a sleep aid, pick a natural sleep aid like Sleepzyme. Right now you can get a head start on a good night’s rest with a free bottle.
